Richardton Comprehensive Plan

The City of Richardton is developing a Comprehensive Plan aimed at guiding sustainable community development, growth and preservation over the coming decades.

The comprehensive plan will help to shape both public- and private-sector investment. It will serve as the policy foundation for land uses such as commercial, industrial, residential, parks and open space as well as informing zoning and other municipal regulations. It provides guidance for discretionary decisions, such as petitions to amend the zoning map or special use permits and guides public capital investments in streets, utilities, parks and recreation and community revitalization. Lastly, the Comprehensive Plan helps support requests for federal, state and county grants and other types of funding opportunities available for supporting the revitalization and growth of North Dakota communities.

Preparation of the plan is being managed and facilitated by urban planners, designers and engineers for SEH, a Bismarck, ND consulting firm with assistance from a Project Advisory Committee comprised of resident volunteers. The planning process includes multiple opportunities and venues for Richardton residents and business owners to provide input into developing the plan including a community survey, a community visioning workshop and reviews of draft project documents on this project web page. Be sure to check back on this web page for project updates and announcements.
