Pueblo I-25 Dillon Drive Interchange Improvements

Challenge

When developing the I-25/Dillon Interchange, the City of Pueblo needed more than an engineering design company for their interchange improvement project, they needed a team who could also move their project through multi-agency approval processes with Colorado Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

Solution

An SEH-led consultant team coordinated with multiple stakeholders, designing improvements that included modifying the existing diamond interchange to a split diamond interchange. Improvements include a new bridge structure over I-25 and significant aesthetic and landscaping elements.

Features

A value engineering analysis was performed to improve the function of the design reducing the construction cost by approximately $5 million.
A central cloud-based server was used to maintain file and design integrity throughout the project.
Bi-weekly interagency (City of Pueblo, CDOT, Federal Highway Administration) coordination meetings were implemented.
Weekly design team coordination meetings with all project design team SEH Task Leaders and subconsultants were implemented.
