Challenge
As part of the larger Marquette Plan, the project team needed to evaluate the existing transportation conditions and facilities and the relationship between the transportation corridors and nearby land uses.
Solution
A comprehensive transportation/land use plan was developed to help guide future investment along the corridors. The plan was the result of working closely with a large group of stakeholders including government agencies, transportation and environmental groups, economic development representatives, and civic/citizen groups. The plan offers recommendations to enhance the corridor’s image and increase pedestrian safety and connectivity. It also recommended developing cohesiveness along the corridors, managing a visitor center, and integrating green initiatives.
