Steel bridge over river

Dodd Ford Bridge Rehabilitation

Challenge

The local highway department needed to bring a bridge up to code without removing its historic character, which was prized by the community.

Solution

The project team came up with a design that combined the historic bridge with a modern bridge. The original truss section of the bridge, the visible portion that the community wanted preserved, was set on top of a new concrete structure capable of carrying modern loads.
