Road Closures & Transportation Disruptions

Construction Look Ahead

Throughout the project construction, the City intends to update the project webpage with monthly construction updates providing community members with general construction activities anticipated to occur in the next month.

March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Placement of precast panels
  • Concrete finishing
  • Roofing
  • Selective interior demolition
  • Interior finishing work
  • Interior piping work
  • Interior electrical work

February 1, 2025 to February 28, 2025

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Concrete formwork, rebar tying, and concrete pours
  • Placement of precast panels
  • Selective interior demolition
  • Interior finishing work
  • Interior piping work
  • Interior electrical work

January 1, 2025 to January 31, 2025

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Concrete formwork, rebar tying, and concrete pours
  • Selective interior demolition
  • Interior masonry work
  • Interior piping work
  • Interior electrical work

December 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Concrete formwork, rebar tying, and concrete pours
  • Selective interior demolition

November 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Installation of the compacted aggregate geopiers on the south side of the WTP. (Completed)
  • Rebar will be delivered on Monday, November 18
  • Concrete formwork and rebar tying
  • The first concrete pour is scheduled for Monday, November 25
  • Selective interior demolition

October 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur:

  • Plant 2 pumping improvements for resiliency and redundancy while Plant 1 is removed from service
  • Rough excavation and exploration on south side of WTP in preparation for new construction
  • Selective interior demolition
  • Buried utility piping modifications on the south side of the WTP
  • Shutdown of Plant 1
  • Installation of compacted aggregate geopiers on south side of WTP

September 1, 2024 to September 31, 2024

  • Rough excavation and exploration on south side of WTP in preparation for new construction
  • Electrical service modifications
  • Generator startup and testing
  • Preparation and planning for Plant 2 pumping improvements for resiliency and redundancy while Plant 1 is removed from service
  • Selective interior demolition

July 23, 2024 to August 31, 2024

The following construction activities are anticipated to occur between July 23, 2024 and August 31, 2024.  

  • Closure of the Lake Shore Path alongside of the WTP
  • Installation of construction security fencing
  • Installation of the new generator
  • Tree and top soil removal
  • Excavation on the south side of the WTP
  • Buried water main and sanitary sewer relocation
  • Installation of geo-piers to support the new structures on the south side of the WTP

Please note, this is a preliminary list and the items listed below are subject to change.  

Construction Updates

The City has awarded the WTP Improvements Project to CD Smith Construction.  The construction activities began in July 2024 and are scheduled to continue into the middle of 2026.
