You don’t have to be a grown-up to understand how much we depend on water.

For Imagine a Day Without Water, we got input from those who matter most: kids. Here’s what they drew.

Seven-year-old Chloe would miss practical things like swimming and taking a shower. Chloe, you're right, we can't forget rainbows!

We agree with you, Ella! Clean water is important for healthy teeth. Keep brushing!

Scrub, scrub scrub! Bethany, age 14, would miss taking a shower. Looks like you're a good singer, too, Bethany!

Alexandrea imagines how our blue planet would look from space. Where did the blue go, Alexandrea?

No watermelon with dinner! Nicholas crosses it off the list with his collage.

If water was gone, everyone would suddenly realize how precious it was! Nice drawing, Jael!

Yes, Talayah, dolphins are important, too! Talayah, a 7th grader, isn't worried about herself, she's concerned for threatened sea life.

Isaac says, "I would miss washing my hands."

Future structural engineer? Eric would build, in his words, a "space elevator" made of "21 SC" (Scandium on the Periodic Table of Elements) to "take water from other planets." The world needs more innovators like you, Eric!

Ethan asks a great question. If we take good care of our water resources, Ethan, no one will ever need to answer it!

Brandon loves fishing. Hard to do if there's no water in the pond!

"With water ... we will have food and everything!" wrote Chance. You're right, Chance! Irrigation is critical to our food supply.

Don't get too close to the flames! Thank you, James, for pointing out how important water is to emergency fire service!

Without water, it would be tough to go the bathroom. Great picture, Aiden!

Ja, you are right, water is critical to oral hygiene!

A pet goldfish wouldn't last long without clean water. Thank you for this picture, Jacob! Keep taking good care of your fish!

No water? That means dirty clothes, no drinking water and no showering. Nice picture, Kahliyah!

Great question, Hector! How do you fill the backyard pool without water?

Where's the lake? Owen and Jay, you sure know how damaging drought can be!

If we take care of our planet, and its most precious resource, we can make sure Levi, the ten-year-old who drew this beautiful scene, gets to keep swimming and kayaking.

We'd be sad, too, if we couldn't water the plants, Jacqueline!

"Only milk to drink," writes 4-year-old Bryson. Water tastes so good, doesn't it?

Nobody should have to run from a fire! Without water, Joseph, your entire day would be different.

Yuck! Dirty plates, cups and cutlery. Thank you for the colorful picture, Maria!

A special thank you to all the contributors from SEH as well as Audra Keehn and all the bright students (and artists) at Eisenhower Middle School in Topeka, Kansas! We didn't have room for all the photos in the article, but we appreciate your passion!
