Grant Application Deadlines

State of Arizona Government Offices for Sale
Does your community have a large deficit? Need short term capital? The state of Arizona does. To solve their problem, they are selling and leasing back the executive office tower, the buildings that contain both chambers of the State Legislature, 10 prison complexes, a state mental hospital as well as other buildings.

For more information on what they are doing, go to http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/25/us/25phoenix.html?_r=1&pagewanted=print

What are Solar Updraft Towers?
Probably won't be seeing this in Wisconsin, but solar updraft towers have approximately 2,400 foot chimneys over a four square mile greenhouse generating hot air. The warm wind turns a wind turbine to produce energy. Although this idea is not new, it is just starting to come to fruition in places like La Paz County, Arizona.

Harbor Assistance Program Funds Available
Wisconsin Department of Transportation created the Harbor Assistance Program (HAP) in 1979 to assist communities along the Great Lakes and Mississippi River with projects such as dock reconstruction, mooring structure replacement, dredging, and construction of facilities to hold dredged material.

The next round of grant applications are due February 1, 2010. To find out more about funding and eligibility, go to http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/localgov/aid/hap.htm
