Transportation Planning
Transportation Planning is the process of identifying,
analyzing, and prioritizing transportation improvements. The SEH Transportation
Planning team is comprised of a diverse set of educational and professional
backgrounds, including Engineers and Planners.
Community planning, landscape
architecture, traffic engineering and highway design are integral elements
in transportation planning. We also use GIS, water resources and Successful Public Involvement processes (SPI®),
extensively.
Our transportation planning activities include:
- Travel Demand Forecasting: the development
and use of regional traffic forecasts tofacilitate long term decision-making
- Transportation Master Planning: the identification
of future transportation infrastructure needs for local communities, with
a focus on functional roadway classifications and local circulation patterns.
Includes compatibility review of subdivision and zoning ordinances
- Transportation Corridor Planning: the identification
and conceptual design of future transportation infrastructure for local
and regional corridors
- Environmental Documentation: the development
and completion of environmental documents associated with transportation
facilities
- Impact Fee Development and Implementation: the
connection of future transportation needs with land use forecasts to develop
a rational funding mechanism for local communities
- Multi-Modal Planning: the integration of
bicycle facilities, pedestrian improvements and transit planning into
local transportation systems
- Public Involvement: the effective inclusion
of the general public and community decision makers in identifying and
prioritizing transportation needs
