Brent Theroux, PE, recently joined the SEH Geotechnical Engineering Team. He will serve as a Project Engineer in the firm’s St. Paul, Minn., office. Theroux has nine years of experience, specializing in site investigations, earth structures, ground water control, soil erosion studies, geosynthetics designs and installation, and more. Some of Theroux’s noteworthy Minnesota projects include the CSAH 42 Landslide Repair in Otsego, CSAH 26 and CSAH 42 Geotextile-Reinforced Embankments in Blue Earth County, and geotechnical consulting for the United Taconite Tailings Basin in Forbes, Minn. Theroux earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in geological engineering and is a licensed engineer in Minnesota. He currently serves as President for the Minnesota Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Theroux joined a team of more than 650 architects, engineers, scientists and planners located in multiple offices across the nation.

Jody Andres, LEED-AP, recently joined the Appleton, Wis., office of SEH as a Senior Architect and Project Manager responsible for sustainable architectural design, BIM and 3D modeling for educational facilities. Andres brings to SEH 15 years of experience, specializing in various architectural studies, programming, planning, design and construction of new schools as well as building additions and renovations. Andres has played an instrumental role on several noteworthy school projects such as the Northland Pines High School Project in Eagle River, Wis. – Wisconsin’s first LEED-certified school project; the new Kimberly High School and Additions Project in Kimberly, Wis., and the Woodland Elementary/Intermediate School Project also in Kimberly, Wis Andres holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects, the Council of Educational Facility Planners International, U.S. Green Building Council, and the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance.

Jim Hall, PE, recently rejoined SEH’s St. Paul, Minn., office as a Senior Project Manager to work on the firm’s highway design and transportation services projects. Jim specializes in project management and complex highway design, including preliminary and final design phases. Hall’s 17 years of experience includes various roles on a variety of design, planning and policy level projects. His expertise includes oversight and preparation of construction documents, review and coordination of highway geometric design, conceptual and schematic roadway design, and design assistance for environmental documents. Before rejoining SEH, Hall was involved in several high-profile local projects, including the Saint Croix River Crossing Design Criteria Development Project, the I-94 Managed Lanes Project, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Cost Estimation Process Improvement and Organizational Integration Project, in addition to projects in Oregon and Indiana. Jim also has project management experience on design-build projects. Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Irvine. He is a member of the Minnesota Surveyors and Engineers Society Scholarship Committee.

Professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®) has a new face in its Grand Rapids, Minn., office with the recent hire of Mathew Pellinen, PE. Pellinen serves as a Project Manager and Client Service Manager for the firm’s Municipal Group. Specializing in site grading, road design, stormwater design, utility design, and permitting and proficient in many engineering software applications, Pellinen performs municipal engineering design and construction services. Prior to joining SEH, Pellinen worked for a well-known municipal engineering consulting services firm. He also has worked for a wind farm company. Pellinen holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University.

Steven Wirtz recently joined the Virginia, Minn., office of professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®) as a Graduate Engineer in the Municipal Group. Wirtz will serve as a Design Engineer responsible for preparation of feasibility studies, plans and specifications, bidding and construction administration of public works projects, including utility and street improvements. Other responsibilities include preparation of preliminary engineering reports in addition to project permitting and construction oversight. Wirtz graduated with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. Wirtz joins a team of more than 650 architects, engineers, scientists, and planners throughout multiple offices across the nation, including 12 offices in Minnesota.

Matthew Gawelko recently joined the Denver office of professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®) as a Graduate Engineer in the Structural Engineering Group. Gawelko will assist team members with structural design of bridges and walls, detailing and quantities, bridge inspections, and load ratings. Gawelko earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado-Denver. He joins a team of more than 650 architects, engineers, scientists, and planners throughout multiple offices across the nation, including six offices in the firm’s Western Region service area. Office locations include Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, Lakewood and Pueblo, Colo., and Laramie, Wyo.

Bobby Long, AIA, LEED AP, has joined professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.’s (SEH®) Denver, Colo., office as a Senior Architectural Project Manager in the Architecture Group. With nearly 20 years experience in architecture with an emphasis on mixed-use and multi-family development, Long has created innovative designs for projects across the country. As a LEED Accredited Professional, he regularly uses sustainability principles in his design. Much of Long’s work can be seen throughout the state of Colorado, including his work on the Dry Creek Crossing Condominiums in Centennial, Colo., where he served as the Project Architect. Long is a registered architect in the State of Colorado and has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Ohio State University. Additionally, he is a member of the national, Colorado, and Denver chapters of the American Institute of Architects. As Senior Architectural Project Manager for the firm’s Colorado and Wyoming offices, Long will design and manage a number of the firm’s high profile projects as well as enhance the firm’s presence in the mixed-use, housing, and hospitality markets.

Nathan Thomas recently joined the St. Paul, Minn., office of professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®) as a Graduate Engineer in the Structural Engineering Group. Thomas has three years of industrial/commercial building structural design experience and has worked on several Minnesota projects such as the new Twins Ballpark – Target Field and the Foshay Tower renovations. Some of his responsibilities include completing field evaluations and structural inspections and preparing plans and specification documents. He will also assist team members with the design of buildings, water/wastewater treatment facilities, flood control structures, and bridges. Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of North Dakota-Fargo. He joins a team of more than 650 architects, engineers, scientists, and planners throughout multiple offices across the nation, including 12 offices in Minnesota.
